S'porean caught with child porn phone video at Australian airport

A random airport search after landing turned up the video, resulting in a conviction and $6,100 fine.

BE CAREFUL of what data you store on your mobile phone when you travel.

A 44-year-old Singaporean man was slapped with an AUD$5000 (S$6,100) fine after he was found with a child pornography video on his mobile phone at Darwin airport, the Northern Territory News reported today.

According to the report, Mr Rahmat bin Amin arrived in Darwin on March 17 from Singapore and during a random search, an explicit 20-second video called "12-year-olds" was discovered on his phone.

The clip, which showed a young girl having sex with a man, was sent to Mr Amin by a "mischievous colleague" and he had forgotten to remove it, the court was told

He pleaded guilty in Darwin Magistrates Court to importing the video, was convicted and fined, the Northern Territory News said.

Mr Amin is a marine technician, who travels overseas regularly for work.
